Long's Machine & Tool, parent company of G-Force and Long's Shifters, has been producing high performance transmissions and shifters used by many of today's top Nextel Cup and NHRA racers for more than 14 years. The company's products are engineered using the most up-to-date CNC machining technology and computerized inspection equipment to optimize accuracy and repeatability. Since 1979, Long's has manufactured parts for the aerospace industry and military fighter jet contractors, assuring the quality and reliability of their components meets or exceeds the highest standards. Long's research and development team continually strives to design components that are stronger, lighter, or more efficient.
All G-force transmissions and Long Shifters are continually checked and rechecked during the entire production and assembly process to ensure the highest quality components. Testing and inspection is performed using the latest measuring systems, microscopes and hardness testers, and we use independent metallurgy and destructive testing to ensure quality.
Long Shifter’s are made of durable, heat-treated steel and machined using state-of-the-art CNC machining and laser technology. Each unit is hand-built by our factory-trained technicians and thoroughly tested so it arrives ready for installation.
All shifters are black-oxided to add a professional appearance and to protect against rust. An optional titanium shifter for the GF-2000 is also available for the ultimate in low weight and high strength.

When we, here at G-Force/Long Shifters, set out to design and build a new product or make changes to an existing one, we call on our diverse strengths in different engineering and manufacturing fields. We have established a keen eye for quality after years of manufacturing primarily aerospace and military products, along with the ever popular, championship-winning Long Shifters. When coupling this manufacturing ability to the latest engineering techniques and real world testing procedures, G-Force/Long Shifters is able to easily outdistance the competition in terms of quality, performance, and availability. G-Force Transmissions/Long Shifters has a very strong testing program that includes quite a few world champions in their respective fields.

In addition to superior gear design, the GF-5R and the GF-2000 utilize a split-case design. All transmissions are cast from high quality aluminum and magnesium alloys for maximum strength and minimal weight. Bearing supports are strategically located near each gear for the utmost stiffness, and low-friction roller bearings are incorporated in all gears and main shafts for near friction-free operation. All G-force transmissions use a Rail Fork design for smooth, effortless shifting with little wear.
G-Force transmissions utilize a facetooth engagement system to ensure reliable shifting at speeds exceeding 14,000 RPM. All gears are manufactured from military grade 9310 high nickel alloy steel to hold up under severe torque loads. The gears are also designed extra wide for more tooth contact, and excessive weight is removed for decreased inertia. A crowned profile is ground onto each gear after heat treating for more precise tolerances, then shot peened to add an extra level of strength.
Our company also offers technical advice on drivetrain setups or problems that you may have with your existing drivetrain. If you are new to manual transmissions or you are changing your vehicle setup and need help with gear ratios, we would be happy to assist you.
